Advent of Code is running for again - maybe I might even have a go at it
this year?
24PullRequests is also running, making a great way to contribute back to
the Open Source community this season.
With RubyConf Mini behind us, RubyConf Houston
has wrapped up this week and looks to have been a great success - it's also been announced that next years
RubyConf will be in San Diego, CA, on the 13-15 November. I'm hoping more people will be able to go to the
main conference next year and there won't need to be the split. I know that it put several people off going,
myself included, not wanting to miss friends or talks by spending $$$ going to the wrong event.
More in Rails land, the Rails Foundation have announced that they're looking to hire an Executive
Director, and that one of their
tasks will be to help organise the foundations first conference, in a European city! For those of us that
are excluded from the big US based conferences due to the sheer cost of attending, inability to travel to
the US, anxiety around visiting the US, or any other reason - I'm thrilled that more conferences will be
held around the world 🎉.
Apple dropped this video this week, and it's incredible. You should watch
it.
I purchased the domain for a new Ruby based project this week. I'm quite excited about it - hopefully I'll
be able to launch it before the New Year! I won't say too much, but my hope is that it will be helpful for
the community as a whole.
