I always say that I don't follow sports; but really it's a lie. I do follow sports, but I do try to mainly
keep it to internationals. Which leads to somewhat of an issue in that one half of my family are Welsh, and
the other half English. For rugby this is easy as I am a die hard Wales fan, through good or bad (and
there's unfortunately a lot of bad at the moment). For football though it's a little more complicated as I
don't really care about football, but equally Wales and England are facing each other in the World Cup in
the coming weeks and I have no idea who I'll be following!
In addition to the Football World Cup, it's currently the Autum Internations in Rugby Union. I went with my
wife and dad to Cardiff to watch Wales get smashed by New Zealand a few weeks ago, and this weekend we went up
again to watch them loose to Australia! Pivac has to go.
Finally, the only other sport I really follow is Formula1, which had its final race last weekend. Racings
closest answer to a pantomime villain, Max Verstappen (boo, hiss), already had the championship sealed up a
few races back - but it feels nice that this year is over, especially given all the drama around Red Bull
cheating.. Here's to a more honest 2023!
At work this week I've mostly been getting rid of legacy code, which has been nice. Not so much the work
itself, as it's detailed, tedious and lengthly - but I do appreciate a good tidy up.
