Time off

The keen eyed among you will have noticed that I haven't posted weeknotes for a few weeks. There's been no real reason behind it other than I'm pretty exhausted, and needed to focus on more core responsibilities. Things have calmed down to a large degree now, so I'm hoping to be able to pick them up again.

These radio's from Sony are gorgeous, and I'm very tempted to pick one (or multiple) of them up if I had any need for them whatsoever.
Sony still making great looking portable radios. Need these. pic.twitter.com/iGXNPXf5ik

Work has been very busy recently, and I put a lot of pressure on myself to handle both my management responsibilities and by IC work to as high of a standard as I can. This is usually fine, but when either side of those requires a lot more work or focus, the other suffers. And lets just say that both sides recently have required a lot more work and focus!

Rails World is coming!. The first conference from the recently formed Rails Foundation is taking place in Amsterdam in October and it slots nicely into an already jam packed year of Ruby conferences.
As with anything that has DHH even remotely associated with it, there have been a bunch of critics coming out of the woodwork with some valid, and some not so valid (to put it nicely) issues; but I personally am super impressed that the new Executive Director of the Rails Foundation, Amanda Perino has managed to start pulling together a conference within her first 6 weeks of work!

Speaking of Ruby conferences, I've started working through talks from RubyConf 2022, and this one from Chris Seaton was a great watch for multiple reasons.

This weekend is a 4 day weekend in the UK, with Good Friday and Easter Monday. I'm really looking forward to the time away from everything, and am planning on doing as little as possible from my normal routine! For me, switching focus from mental to physical work acts as a fantastic rest that I respond to really well.

Since last update, taken swimming another couple of times. She's still loving it, and is plucking up the courage to actually start floating. She's mastered getting her lips under the water and blowing bubbles!
