My mother-in-law has been staying for the last 10 days, as I write this we have just dropped her back to the
airport. I don't really get the horrow stories of MIL's as she's absolutely wonderful!
I met with my accountant this week and had some very fun conversations. I say I'm pretty financially
illiterate - I'm not sure that's completely true, but it certainly feels that way. Leaving that meeting
though I felt very empowered in a way that I haven't before. It's a nice feeling!
Read through Masters of Doom this week, covering id software and more importantly the two Johns - John
Carmack and John
Romero. Carmack particularly has been someone I've looked up to
as a programmer for over a decade - yet I'd never gotten around to reading this. It was a nice reminder that
if you buckle down, work 24 hours a day and make serious sacrifices, you can make a lot of progress.
Something that is widely criticised these days.
Not too much to say this week, work has been challenging in a way that it hasn't been at Podia before, but
I think we're through the worst of that for now.
